Will I Ever Grow Up?
I hope not! Although I have many grown up qualities (my own place, a real job, a sweet cat), I still feel like a kid; That is until I go to a school to do a story and the students call me Ma'am.
On one of the 5 snow days this week (they all run together), I was assigned to cover kids sledding on their day off. I went to the hill in Belpre on Washington Blvd. (across the street from Wendy's). It was a really awesome hill! I drove up and instantly got the urge to run full speed, flop on a sled, and go soaring down the hill. I had to remember that I was sent there to work. So I got shots of everyone else having fun and then kindly asked if I could have a go on someones sled.
There were a few girls who dared to race me. I don't think they realized they were racing someone with a decorated history in sledding. So in my business suit, I sat on the foam sled and pushed off. It was exhilarating! I clearly out-sled my competition. I felt like I was 10 again.. that is until I had to hike back up the hill.
I wish I could have stayed longer, but unfortunately my adult life beckoned. It made my day to get to sled again. I can't even remember how long it has been since my previous sledding adventure. Thank you to however was kind enough to lend me their sled. To the girls who are still eating my snow dust, thank you for a good race!
