So That's Why It's Called the Mountain State

I took my first trip to Snowshoe, WV.

Last week I took my first trip to Snowshoe, WV to go skiing. I have been skiing in Colorado and Utah several times, so my expectations for a ski hill in West Virginia were not that high.

As I ventured further south on winding roads, I was shocked as the mountains came into view. It was spectacular! All weekend I couldn't get over the views from the top of the mountain. The skiing was great too!  I never imagined a place like this existed in the eastern half of the country. The fact that so much of the land has not been developed makes it that much more appealing. It is truly Wild and Wonderful.

I think West Virginia's beauty is a well-kept secret. I don't think many people from surrounding states realize how breath-taking it is. I'm glad I'm now in on the secret!
