Allison Rhea offers a very important tip for a windy day.
This week, the Valley saw some SUPER-strong winds. So many area residents lost power and had to deal with a mess of fallen trees and other missing objects from their yards. Luckily, I never lost power, but the heavy winds sure got a piece of me.

When it's raining out...I ALWAYS make sure to bring my little pink umbrella to work. Well, it's not the most stable umbrella, but it's come in handy before. This particular night, we saw 70-80 mph winds and that is NOT an exaggeration. On top of the strong wind, I've always been that person that has pretty bad luck in bad weather....well this night was no exception.
I was leaving work...I made sure I grabbed my little pink umbrella. On a side note, I've been told before that this particular umbrella is way too small for a grown adult, but I can't help but hang on to it because I got it for Christmas a couple years ago. Anyways, I grabbed my umbrella and was walking to my car. All of a sudden, this gust of wind whipped my entire body around, swept the umbrella right out of my hands and even turned it inside out!!! How embarrassing! Luckily, I was not wearing a skirt! Another side note, I'm only 5'2...so I don't hold up too well in the wind to begin with. As I chased my umbrella across the parking lot, the wind finally calmed down a bit and I got a hold of the little pink umbrella.
So, I'm sure my embarrassing umbrella story pales in comparison to some of your weather stories...but I thought I'd share and hopefully bring you a little chuckle.
P.S. Oh and the tip I'd like to give you for future nights of heavy winds.....buy an umbrella that's made for an adult and hang on for dear life!
