This past weekend I got to go home to Cleveland to visit my family and to attend a benefit that some of my family members organized.
I've noticed that every time I go home it starts to snow. As soon as I pull into town, the flakes start falling! Either, it's always snowing in Cleveland or I'm being punished for hating snow! Anyways, I had an awesome weekend with the family, but one of the highlights was going to a benefit at a local ski resort...all in the name of a GREAT cause.
Ok, this might be tough to explain, but here we go. My father's cousin's granddaughter (there we go) Kylie Jane Long was born on May 3, 2004. In January of 2005, Kylie started having fevers and weeks later came down with pneumonia. Her health kept deteriorating and later in the month she was diagnosed with cancer. Kylie underwent several surgeries and chemo. But, it wasn't enough...just 3 days after her 1st birthday, Kylie Jane died.
Over the weekend I went to a benefit in her name called "Hope On the Slopes". It was a great event and a lot of money was raised to help local pediatric patients facing life-threatening illnesses. Plus, it was so nice to see my family and spend some time with them...not to mention there was a wine tasting event, which was fantastic!
