I visited my grandparents this weekend, and there’s a house down the road from them that goes all out on seasonal decorations. My grandmom says they use so many decorative lights that, “It looks like a city down there.”
So, driving by the other evening, I wasn’t at all surprised to see it covered in green lights and other St. Patrick’s Day décor.
This got me thinking about the different holidays and how people decorate for them. I always assumed I’d be one of those people who covered the inside and outside of their home with decorations for every holiday, but Christmas is pretty much the only holiday that brings out the inner-decorator in me.
In fact, the recent warm weather was a good sign for me to finally finish putting away the few Christmas items lingering around my apartment, but there was one item I just couldn’t put in a box.
On top of my TV sits a Santa Claus my aunt got me for Christmas. But this Santa isn’t wearing the traditional red suit and hat; he instead is sporting a nice Hawaiian shirt and swimming trunks. So I thought since he’s already geared for warm weather, why not let him enjoy it.
So I may not decorate for every holiday, and I won’t leave my Christmas lights up year-round, but as long as Santa sits on my television, I might as well celebrate Christmas every day, no matter how warm it gets!
I’d love to hear what you do to decorate for various holidays and how you celebrate them. Also, if you have any fun decorating ideas you’d like to share with me and others, just leave a comment and let us know!
