I truly love spring. I'm a warm weather girl by nature, and the first signs of greener pastures really put me in a great place mentally. It's easier to wake up in the morning, and it's WAY more fun to be outside.
There's nothing like opening the windows to air out the house for the first time, after a long winter. I love watching the grass start to grow and feeling the sunshine warm up the air outside.
With that said, I do not love opening the windows to see thousands of fake-out ladybugs (Asian Lady Beetles) crawl out of the woodwork. I don't love allergies. And I don't love the freak frosts that are a mean trick of Mother Nature.
BUT, Bay Leaves kill fake ladybugs, Tylenol Allergy clears up any sniffling and the frost is just a reminder for me...that I love warm weather!
So, what's all this have to do with my new found favorite spring activity? I really enjoy spring cleaning! This is our first spring in our new house (which is fun and exciting already)...and with that, our first foray into seasonal cleaning.
Granted, Jim and I have been dusting and bleaching and vaccuuming for two weeks because Bob and Donna, Jim's parents, are coming to spend a few weeks with us. But, I think we both have found that we like freshening up the homestead to welcome the warm weather.
We've got pretty pink flowers blooming in front of our porch.
The girls got bunk beds to camp out in when they come to our house- that's their spring surprise.
Even Winnie is going to get involved- she's getting a spring cleaning bath on Saturday and new towels and blankets for her kennel.
Charley is just getting a swipe with flea and tick medicine- not nearly as exciting. But still, everyone gets to take part in the Keeling spring celebration.
It's something about pushing out the old, dreary winter air...and welcoming in the new spring air that really makes me happy to have our house to clean and my husband to share it with.
I hope you're enjoying the turn of the season....
I'm off to work some magic on our stovetop!
