There's only so much you can handle when it comes to bad news. I know it's important to report on, but when you find yourself reading such gloomy stories every day it starts to get to you. My mom always says its so strange for her to see me reading such sad and serious stories on a regular basis.
I know the good news is in the newscasts as well but most of the time I feel like its overshadowed by the gloom and doom of the day. I guess when something terrible happens it sticks with you longer, be that good or bad.
Earlier this week I was browsing through the national news headlines of the day when I told Abby I had to stop because it was just too much to handle! Too many murders, hijackings, earthquakes, and families torn apart. I guess that's why I always turn to watching sports at those times, because it's easy to distract yourself in a ball game when it feels like everything else in the world is going bad. Of course, until times like last week when a promising young baseball star's life and career is cut short.
I need a good story to stick with me instead of the bad. You had better believe that's what I'll be focusing on for the next few weeks!
