From the Heart

Cathleen Moxley reflects on the crayons and glue that once made up Mother's Day gifts, and all the love that still goes into those gifts each year.

I was shopping for a Mother's Day gift for my mom yesterday, (I know...nothing like waiting until the last minute) when I started thinking back to all the gifts I've made for her over the years.

Flower pots covered in plastic jewels and ribbons, tissue paper flowers sprayed with perfume and of made of construction paper and glitter.

It seems as though as kids we put so much time and effort into these gifts. I was never very artistic, so mine never turned out very well, but it always made me feel so good to see my mom's big smile when I handed them to her Mother's Day morning!

My gifts have become a little more advanced over the years, and they don't take quite as much time to prepare. However, I still try to put just as much thought into them as I did sitting at the two foot high table covered in markers and finger paint.

Even though I waited until the day before Mother's Day, I'm happy to say I found a gift my mom absolutely loved (or at least she says she does), you know how moms are :)

But I believe no matter what the occasion and no matter what the gift is; whether it be a diamond bracelet or the biggest hug ever, our loved ones will appreciate and love them because they came from the heart!
