This past Saturday 258 Western State College graduates crossed the commencement ceremony stage, picked up their diplomas, and officially made their entrance into the workforce. Sean Thomas Lucey was one of them.
Four years ago my little brother arrived in the tiny town of Gunnison, Colorado to begin his college career after visiting quite a few schools across the state of Colorado. Sean began making snowboard movies in high school and knew Colorado would be the best place to pursue that dream. Now dozens of classes and quite a few movies later, he's ready to enter the "real world."
I know my brother would love to stick around Western State for a few more years (especially since most of his friends have at least another year or two to go before graduation!) but I also know he's excited to have college all finished up. It isn't the best time for a college graduate to be entering the work force, but at least he has a paid summer of making snowboard videos in Oregon ahead of him and then working to find a way to do it year-round after that!
Watching my brother's work progress from when he first started filming and editing snowboard videos in high school to what he can put together now after all those years of work has been truly remarkable. You can tell he loves what he does by watching his movies and I know that will take him far.
You can check out a clip of one of Sean's latest Mattress in a Box Productions clips at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyz5cKiJIEI&feature=related or by just searching for Mattress in a Box Productions. I hope you'll all be as impressed as I am!
