If you are thinking about taking a vacation, but don't want to spend all that money and still want to get away...I have the perfect spot for you.
Washington D.C. is not only one of my favorite places on earth, but it's a cheap place to travel to.
D.C. is about five and one half hours away from Parkersburg.
In D.C. basically all the museums are free! If you aren't much for an indoor adventure you could go outside and visit history at all the great free monuments. If you have young kids and don't think they would enjoy any of that, well you could take them to the National Zoo it's free and its full of great animals to see. If you are interested in politics a great opportunity is to go to the Capitol Building. The Capitol is open and free , but you have to go early to get a ticket. If you like to shop then Georgetown is the place for you there are so many unique shops. I'm sad to say nothing is free in Georgetown but the window shopping. If you are interested in the night life, Adams Morgan is the spot for you. Adams Morgan is a street full of bars, restaurants and clubs. If the big city scares you don't worry about the traveling it is easy. The best way to travel and cheapest is Metro or the bus. If you are strapped even to much to use transportation you could walk everything is pretty much in walking distance. By the way something else you might not know is, you never know who you might meet in D.C. a political official, a famous actor, or even a friend. The people are friendly in D.C. and it's a great place to learn about our government our history and our future. I highly recommend D.C. to anyone!
If you have a great vacation spot please share!
