If you are a daily viewer of WTAP News at 5, for the next couple of weeks, you will not be seeing me at the anchor desk. But, it won't be because I'm on a beach somewhere in the Caribbean. I will actually be recovering from back surgery.
About a year ago, I started feeling a dull aching pain, sometimes a sharp pain, down the side of my right leg. I chalked it up to years of dancing and wear and tear in daily activity, but it still seemed strange. When my leg pain started to affect my daily routine...walking up stairs, carrying a camera and tripod and simple walking, I decided to have it checked out. After different x-rays and an MRI, it turns out, I have a severely herniated disc.
So, I recently saw a neurosurgeon who gave me some different treatment options. In the end, I decided surgery would be the best option.
On Tuesday, I will go under the knife and hopefully all of my pain will be over with. They say the average recovery time takes 2-3 weeks. So, hopefully, I will be back at the anchor desk before you know it!
I'll be sure to check in and let you guys know how everything goes! See you soon!
