Here I am folks, an 8 hr drive, 3 extra strength energy drinks, 9 bathroom stops and 4 bags of teriyaki (I don't even like the flavor teriyaki, it just sounds like it tastes good.. Gets me every time) jerky later and I've finally made it to the Mid Ohio Valley.
Who the heck am I and why am I here you ask? Well, my name is Alan Longstreet, but I'll bet my picture and corresponding name at the top might have been a dead giveaway, and let me tell you a little about myself. I am WTAP's new Daybreak co-anchor and meteorologist. Yes, this means I will be waking up before the break of dawn every morning to don my suit and tie and prepare my forecast Mon-Fri. Now this also means I will need to be in bed every night by late afternoon/early evening in order to function properly throughout the "day".. It is currently 11 PM and tomorrow is my first day on air... My current situation does not bode well for me. So fact number 1 about me, you now know that I will be sleep deprived and cranky tomorrow. If only Brenna was forewarned.
As thrilled as I am to be here in the MOV, I must admit, I am currently on step 10, Learning to Cope, of the 12 step "How to Grieve Properly" process concerning an 8 hr move away from family and friends. See, I've got this 14 yr old little brother, Cody, just a spitting image of yours truly and I would love nothing more than to guide him through the awkward and tough transition from middle school into the sheik, sophisticated, and romance filled, world of high school. But I suppose a weekly phone call and a smattering of text messages throughout the week will suffice. I also have a younger sister, 2 older sisters and an amazing set of parents and just the most handsome little nephew a guy could ask for.
Here we are, almost out of time and I feel as though I haven't told you anything about me.. Well, here goes... My favorite color is green, I wear a size 14 shoe, I hail from Coopersville, MI, my favorite ice cream is anything with Reese's bits mixed in, or when I'm feeling like a stroll down memory lane, Superman, life is what you make of it, I love my family and the Dallas Cowboys.. Did I miss anything?? Want to know more? Ask away..
