I Know What West Virginia Really Needs...

The Mountain State is always looking to make some money, and I have the idea to get us to the big bucks.

Okay friends we all know West Virginia is on the bottom of the totem pole when it comes to making money. I know the secret to get West Virginia to rake in the cash...

The answer is a franchise sports team. Here is what I'm thinking. We are one of the few states without a professional sports team. For example look at New York or Pittsburgh P.A. those greedy states they have all the fun with their teams. They also make a ton of money on fans like us West Virginians. What professional sports team you may ask....FOOTBALL of course. I don't know if anything else will really kick off....

Why I think is will work West Virginia has the most die hard fans I've ever seen. We are dedicated, we burn couches! To the nay sayers out there, we can do it, we all can ban together buy stock in the franchise and build it up from the ground up. We could be "living on a prayer." The stadium can be right here in Parkersburg! Just think about the tailgates people!

JIM WHARTON TELLS ME THIS WILL NEVER EVER HAPPEN. But I say, "Jim can't a girl dream!"

what the area needs are some weather forecasters with a little common sense. quit saying its hot when it isnt. you idiots act as if anything over 50 is a heatwave. fyi, 64 is NOT HOT. NEITHER IS THE 70'S. THE 80'S ARE WARM BUT NOT HOT. GET SOME WEATHER PEOPLE WITH A CLUE. i thought it would get better when you got rid of that blonde idiot. but it is actually worse. at least i know when the weather is great for being outside, it is when you say it is hot. idiots.

I totally agree that WV could support a football team! Besides, if the NFL wants to expand back into LA, giving the city its first NFL team that is TRULY theirs, then consider putting a team in Charleston (the MOV is probably too close to Pittsburgh or Cincinnati in terms of NFL territorial rights. Come on, NFL...come to WV...we're ready!

Sandy, I was commenting on the general goodness of all Couches and how they shouldn't be burned. And yes Lauren, I get "Your Joke". But for me, It is so shocking to me to see the Couches burn in Morgantown. It truly brings a tear to my eye. When I see those kids wearing the "WVU, Were Couches Are Burned and Greatness is Learned", well... it just hits me right in the heart. It speaks directly to me. Can't they burn chairs or maybe a sofa every now and again? Why is it always the Couch? Seriously, davenports are freakin' worthless, but NO, they don't get burned! BTW, I HATE davenports!!!! What about end tables, or a mattress or two? A big armoire would probably be good on a bonfire. Sandy and Lauren, sorry, just, well, it hits close to home. The whole Couch burning thing, that is. Just when Couch Potato started to fade from public use...now Couch Burning. When will Couches get a break? And, FYI, I am joking as well. My last name is Couch :)

IMO, the problem with attracting a professional sports franchise is that we simply don't have a large enough media market anywhere in the state to support such a franchise. The most-successful sports franchises tend to be in the largest media markets, where they can garner the most money in TV rights and so forth ... it would be nice to see a top-level professional sports team in the state, though!

Blair . . . I don't get the impression that Lauren is advocating burning couches . . . just giving it as an example how extreme the fans are in WV. I'm not a football fan, however, I think a professional sports team in WV is a fantastic idea . . . dream on Lauren!!

I, for the record, am against burning any couch.
