While we've been telling you about our accomplishments on both sides of the Ohio River in the 2010 Associated Press awards, I'd like to give a "shout out" to a couple of my former co-workers who recently won awards as well.
Most of you probably remember Mike Kallmeyer, who anchored weekend sports on WTAP during the 1990's, and, for a couple of years co-hosted Daybreak prior to joining the Ohio News Network in 2000.
Mike has since won several well-deserved Ohio AP awards for his anchoring in Columbus. He won another such honor at the recent awards presentation, as well as an award for "Best Writing". (Having seen Mike's work here with "Plays Of The Week", and later, "Hey Mike, Do My Job!", I'm not surprised!)
Jeremy Naylor worked here in the late 1990's as a reporter, an anchor and weekend weathercaster. He also went to ONN in 2000, as a producer. He won a "Best Documentary" award for a series that network airs.
Both were and are very talented people, but they also represent the talent WTAP has produced throughout its existence, and particularly in the past 20 years. (I also should point out they're both fellow alumni of mine from Ohio University.) And they're not alone not only in going on to bigger venues and winning awards.
