Just What We Need: More Conspiracy Theories

One more thing that will fuel countless "documentaries" and make people wealthy for years...without resolving a thing.

As time goes on, it appears more and more likely the mystery of flight 370 will never be solved.

The investigators now have all but admitted it. That's due to the fact that time is running out in the efforts to find the one thing that might-I repeat, might-yield some answers: the airplane's black box recorder. It's just a few days from running out of power.

But if the mystery isn't "solved", that doesn't mean it will be out of our minds forever. Not in the era of cable and satellite TV and the internet.

You can bet there will be any number of "documentaries" on various cable channels (and anything else unknown now which will distribute such programming in the future), featuring people touted as "experts", with their own perspectives as to how the plane went down, who was to blame, where the search/investigation went wrong, etc.

And if they're not in the media, they'll be hitting the lecture circuit, probably well-paid, touting those theories. And, of course, individuals will form their own opinions, as many have already. That's fine, to a point. It's all part of living in a free society.

But what will it resolve, other than keeping the issue alive, and probably making a few people very wealthy?

The "mother of all conspiracy cases" has been the JFK assassination, now more than half a century old. There have been any number of theories as to how and why that happened, some credible and some so incredible they defy logic.

The question is, what have they done to knock down the original conclusion by the Warren Commission: that original suspect Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in the murder of John F. Kennedy? In my opinion, nothing. And that's even though I realize the commission's finding might have been flawed.

The same is about to happen with Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. And I'm not sure it serves anyone, least of all the families of the passengers.
