"The Party Rock Anthem"

Those of us who wear the green and white (on the Ohio side of the river) have an opinion of who really has TBDBITL!

I don't normally write about videos that have "gone viral" on the internet.  But this one, that's getting a LOT of attention, is worth an exception.

And no, it has nothing to do with Hank Williams, Jr., President Obama or Adolf Hitler.  Enough has been said about that.

First, if you haven't seen it...

Ohio University's "Marching 110" (a misnamed band if ever there was one) was photographed at last Saturday's (October 1) football halftime show performing "The Party Rock Anthem", which I don't think I've ever heard, but has been shared a lot in the past week.

If you looked at the video, you noticed the band was doing anything but "marching".  Dancing, and moving a certain side of the body, is more like it.

It seems like, judging by the attention the band is getting (according to YouTube, it's had nearly 1.5 million views in about a week), it's the first time some people have seen it.  Believe me, they're doing stuff I saw them do when I was in college.

I don't know if it's on YouTube, but this is similar to their performance on one of the band's staple tunes, called "Cheer", which I first heard (and, of course, watched) in the 1970's.

In my time at the school, a lot of students left the football game at halftime, after the band performed (the football product has improved a lot since then, but some still leave at halftime). The school kept some fans in the stands for the second half by having the band perform after the game.

Some folks I know who are alumni or supporters of that OTHER Ohio university insist theirs is the "Best D--- Band In The Land". I beg to differ.
