I hesitate to bring this up until after the holiday is past, but it has occurred to me that there are greater numbers of people upset with Valentine's Day than ever before.
Maybe the numbers aren't really larger, but they are getting more press.
It seems like every website that I have visited today has had at least one snarky individual fighting a war against the observation of V.Day.
Some claim it is a manufactured holiday to sell us more stuff.
Some say it discriminates against single people.
Some are just bitter, and upset that they have no one to hang out with on this romantic day.
It never used to bother me one way or another, myself.
I've always received a card from my mother on this day (a day ahead of time, actually) and it certainly seems to be important to her.
I'm thinking that the time for valentine's day cards passed back in elementary school, but I could be wrong.
How many are annoyed by this observance of a ancient monk's passing?
