A couple of years ago, when John Fortney was still on the air in Columbus, he came to our station to record some commercials for a local automobile dealer.
Here's some news about a musician with ties to WTAP, who is being honored this weekend:
Long-time viewers of the station may remember a country music program we aired for years called "Big Red Jubilee". One of the frequent performers on that program was Connie Smith, a singer who spent part of her childhood in West Virginia.
Smith will be inducted this weekend (Saturday, October 15) along with several other performers (including Kathy Mattea) into the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame.
The Charleston Daily Mail reports Smith has just released a new CD, "Long Line of Heartaches", produced by her husband, country star Marty Stuart, who also performs on the album.
