Went to both the Florida State and West Virginia football practices today.
The Seminoles practice at Jacksonville University's facilities. They're buses ...led by a police escort...pulled up to the football facility at about 9:30am.
The star of the show was Bobby Bowen. The venerable coach held court with the media. Bowden has an easy sense of humor and a courteous manner. He answered question after question on this being his last game ever with the Seminoles. He did it with class and a touch of wistfulness.
He also had some kind words to say about Marshall's .new head coach Doc Holliday. Alot of coaches with West Virginia connection are on the Seminoles staff. The head coach in waiting Jimbo Fisher was on hand talking about his Mountain State days. And so was Rick Trickett, the former WVU offensive line coach.
The Mountaineers practiced at about 11 o'clock at Northern Florida University. The football facility is about 10 miles from he downtown Jacksonville.
The players were loose, but they were getting their work done. Coach Bill Stewart met with the Mountain state media, Today's fun fact: Coach Stew cut the rug in a ballroom dancing class while at WVU.
Another interesting note, the WVU coaches had the Seminoles war chant pumped through the loudspeakers at the stadium durimng drills. That was followed by John Denver's Almost Heaven, West Virginia
After practice the Mountaineers loaded up the bus and headed to the Jacksonville Zoo.
WVU fans are starting to hit Jacksonville in droves. The Seminole fans are are expected to get here Saturday morning for tailgating and football.
