A Job Well Done
Todd Baucher: This is your Life!
Since 1980 Todd Baucher has been a cornerstone of the WTAP News department
He's covered Presidents and politicians, murderers and miscreants,
He's reported from Washington DC, Charleston, Columbus, and all cities, towns, and villages in the Mid Ohio Valley
From tragedies to triumphs, and fires to fairs. Todd has seen it all, and reported it all to the WTAP viewers of the Mid Ohio Valley.
He has seen many changes over the years. The newsroom has evolved from typewriters to computers.
Todd has been through 5 different formats of video cameras, and evolved from tape to tape analog editing to non-linear digital editing.
He's seen WTAP expand from a 1 station, four person news department to a multi-platform multi person newsgathering organization that informs and serves the public with 4 hours of local newscasts every day and constant news and updates on our webchannel thenewscenter.tv.
Through all the change, Todd has remained constant. He's a solid reporter, dedicated to getting the story, getting it right, and getting it on the air.
He is the resident historian in the newsroom, and helps out his fellow reporters with background and perspective that he has gained over 4 decades of work
I'm not writing a story on Todd's retirement. No Todd is getting his due.
Over the years Todd has won awards from both the Ohio and WV Associated Press for his outstanding coverage of major stories.
As I write this Todd has been presented with the Associated Press Broadcasters Lifetime Achievement Award.
It's an honor for meritorious accomplishment in a career body of work.
Todd, no doubt, is humbled and proud of this honor. But when he gets home he will put the award in a safe place, and get ready to come to work on Monday.
Because he's a reporter, and that's what he does..
Congratulations, and Well Done Todd!
