The Ring of Kerry, Ireland
A sunny, warm day greets our Ireland travelers for a change!
We spend a second day in KilKenny, Ireland today, a tourist center for Ireland.
Last night we watched the National Dance Company perform a musical performance in Gaelic but we could follow the storyline through the mime expressions clearly! It was a unique experience!
We drove the "Ring of Kerry" today, the peninsula that sticks farthest out into the Atlantic, and also the point from which the first trans-Atlantic cable was laid. Though showers were forecast, we were able to stay in the sun ever since Noon. This morning, a few paid to tour through the National Park's Muckrock House. It is a mansion that was improved for Queen Victoria's one night visit back in the 18th century. They had six years advanced notice and made amazing improvements to the house and grounds.
We had an enjoyable day, but are preparing to repack for the return journey, just two days away now. I'm not looking forward to a full marathon day of travel and jet lag again. I only hope I'm not wasted on Monday, like I was last Friday when we arrived. Here's to sleep masks, melatonin, Tylenol PM and earplugs on the plane! (It's a five hour flight!)
*I've been attempting to monitor the weather report for this coming Sunday, as we will be flying back into Newark NJ and Pittsburgh and then driving back down into Marietta and Parkersburg that afternoon. It now looks like Wood county will be warm, but dry. That's a welcome change from the continual drizzle and showers that we've played dodge with this week in Ireland. Still, it's all been good today, and we only had a downpour as we attempted to walk out of the airport the first day.
I attempted to watch tonight's WTAP News at Six and it did have an updated graphic...telling me what I wanted to know.* This despite a marginal Internet connection.
More later, as we return to the best hotel in Dublin tomorrow night, and have superior Internet connection once again!
