Just a Guy Named Joe...

You meet some real characters on the road...
I want to tell you about my friend Joe that I met in Ireland last week.

He's a real character!  Not a fictitious character that's made up for laughs, but a real character that makes you laugh.

He's a professional driver and tour guide for a Motor Coach company in Ireland.  And he kept us in stitches.

An experienced guide, he's very knowledgeable about the country, the regions we visited, and the history of the emerald isle.

But we also learned about his interests, the national pastime of following "Football" and "Hurling".  We met his family, first in stories and tales, and then in person, as they visited him one evening for dinner on his wedding anniversary.  And we met his friends, his coworkers, his fellow countrymen and more.

The history of Ireland is complicated, and long, and passionate.  And Joe helped us understand how it influences the country.

There are castles everywhere, with ruins and towers, some restored and left naturally crumbling.

We saw the Blarney castle and ruins, and we kissed the famous stone.  But you'd swear that Joe had kissed it, cause he's that verbal.

Hardly ever at a loss for words, Joe can entertain all kinds of people from all walks of life.

So, if you ever get to Ireland, and I hope that you do go, look up my friend Joe Gleeson.  He'll be the one driving the bus while keeping you entertained.

Just make sure that he knows the height of the bus.  In fact, you'd better know the height, cause when he tells you he's never driven this way, and he doesn't know if the bus is going to fit, you'd better believe he's setting you up!  But he'll still catch you off-guard with a little squeal or crunch to make you think it doesn't fit.

But he does fit...  and very well.  And he'll never leave the back of your mind, whenever you think of Ireland.
Cause like the little roads of Ireland, he's worked his way into your heart!
