So much is happening in the WTAP Newsroom that I wanted to give you a heads up.
I'm hosting our annual Holiday Vacations trip at the end of this week, and so you won't be seeing me on the air next week.
It's a week of preparations, as we pack and clean, and arrange for family members to be "babysit" (for lack of a better term... alright, house sit with kids)... and care for pets.
But in the newsroom, we're seeing some changes as well.
Leslie Cebula is about to get married.
Abby Kidder is planning to be married next month.
And Courtney Rochon has just departed for another position in North Carolina.
And there may be more staff movements as well... especially as we jockey to cover all shifts and people advance.
But I wanted to assure you that I'm not leaving. (I know, I know, the rumors always get going whenever someone goes missing for more than a week.)
One way to combat this is to share details of the trip on this blog page. As more and more of the world becomes wired and wireless, the use of a laptop to send messages and pictures back home is easier.
But there are still some parts of the country where it is an absent luxury. Prime example: Alaska and it's border with British Columbia, as I learned two years ago. There were almost 7 days when I couldn't connect and get anything more than an email or "tweet" out.
Which brings me to another point. Twitter.
Now that we have this bold new service, I'm going to attempt to "Tweet" whenever possible, to give updates and short two line messages about where we are, what we're doing and how it's going.
This is not to rub it in that we're on vacation and you may not be... but rather to give you a flavor of the trip, what the highs and lows are shaping up to be, and what YOU might want to see on this trip if you take it yourself.
Now, there is a little variety built into the attractions, so from year to year you might not visit exactly the same places and restaurants as the rest of us did, but the core sights and views will be so similar that YOUR vacation will be special too.
So, I invite you to follow me on Twitter.com as KGreenfieldWTAP both on this trip and through the regular work week... no matter who's working what shift!
