Things that make you go "Hmmmm...'

Why is it so many disasters seem to occur around our holidays?  Tsunami's at Christmas, earthquakes at Easter, the list goes on and on....

Why do we seem to get more sensitive to pollen the older we get?

Have Americans decided that the desire for an SUV outweighs their need for a fuel-efficient auto?  Why is there no big push for electric vehicles?  Gas prices continue to rise....

If you find one of those purple boxes used to trap Emerald Ash Beetles on the ground, do you pick it up or leave it be?  One school of  thought says it's treated with chemicals to attract the beetle, and you don't want that on your hands nor in your yard.  But the other thought is that it might lure out the few that are in your yard, and kill them before they can do damage?  What is a good Samaritan supposed to do, eh?

Why is it that our families are so interested in Easter Egg hunts when our kids are small, but when they get to the pre--teen years, you have to fight to convince them that they shouldn't compete for the eggs and candy.  Then, when they are teenagers, you can't drag them to go watch the cute fun as younger kids scramble for the treats...

Why haven't we been pursuing the capture of rainwater to water our flowers more in past years?  It would seem to be a natural for anyone who has a garden, instead of paying for metered water.

We are lucky in the MOV that our most serious weather related death is flood related... that means that we can see the storms and the effects coming... instead of being caught off guard by,, say, a tornado that pops up.  We have time to plan and get ready, and evacuate if necessary.

Why are we so concerned about the flavors of cat food, when it's not humans that eat it?  When was the last time your cat said "Yuck, Fish... I hate it.  Don't we have any chicken?""   (Or could it be that this is actually marketed to humans who buy it to eat privately?)

In a similar manner, how often have we considered just what our  kitty litter is made of?  Have you ever heard of a cat who refused to use a clean litter box?  Our cat developed an allergy to one cheap brand of litter.  How strange is that?

Snowshoe ski resort pulled the plug on the winter ski season today, after 122 days of snow, and snowfall of over 230 inches. Canaan Valley had 245 inches!  A record amount!
