Surviving Pollen Season

How can you reduce your reaction to pollen this season? Here's tips!

Recently I heard some recommendations on how you can help to reduce your exposure to pollen.  I thought I'd pass them along, but I really can't recall the source...possibly an NBC Health report.


First, avoid hair gel.  It attracts and holds pollen like crazy.

Second, shampoo and wash your hair regularly. Get that pollen that collects in your air away from you.

Third, Shower regularly. See number two above.

Fourth, change your air filter on your furnace just before pollen season, and step up the filtering to an allergen filter.  Dispose of it within a month, replacing it with a second such filter. Dispose of that at the end of a month, and return to your regular strength filters for the rest of the year.


Fifth, stay indoors as much as possible during pollen season.

Sixth, avoid walking outside in the late evening, or early morning...I don't recall which, so experiment to see which causes you to react more.

Seven, drink alot of water.
