Death of a Jack-Ass

A national news story marks the passing of a "star" from the MTV series "Jack-Ass". Who cares?

We were saddened by the news of a major television and movie star passing away recently.

Thousands recognized his name as he made an indelible impression on the cultural Psyche.

I'm not talking about Peter Falk, although he certainly fits the bill.

Instead, it's a more recent "star" of the Jack-Ass series.

You'll note that I don't mention his name.  That's for a reason.  I don't know it.  I don't recognize it. I don't recognize HIM.

It's not for a lack of media coverage.  It seems that everyone had a picture of this big bushy bearded guy in their newscast for a while... together with images of his wrecked and burned auto.

Some reports say he was going 140 m.p.h. and probably under the influence when his car wrecked in Pennsylvania.

Certainly, he died as he lived... fast.

And in my book, after watching a few clips from the TV series that helped make him recognizable to the MTV generation, the name is significant.

He died as he lived.... a Jack-Ass.

(sorry, I'll be in a better, more family friendly mood next week.)
