Tally-Ho in England-Town

It's surprising just how many times you recognize something from London once you're been there.

It happened to me again last week.

I was listening to a Book-On-Tape of the latest 007 novel "Carte Blance" when there was a reference to the skyline of London.

Instantly, I could picture what they were describing, as I had been there just a half a year ago.

We got lucky to schedule a trip for a week in London and saw, oh, so many sights.  From Windsor Castle to the London Eye, Stonehenge to Hampton Court, Abby Road to The Tower of London.

But it's surprising how many times there will be an unintentional reference to something we know. It worked in reverse when we were there, hearing about the Royal Albert Hall and recognizing a passing reference in an obscure Beatles song.

But now, the references to current London keep popping up.

The 007 book was just one example.  We also saw the exterior of the buildings that house MI5 and MI6, and the book also references the antennas we saw crowding the rooftop.

Last week, my daughter watched a Dr. Who episode where the main characters took a break, sitting on a stone wall outside the Tower of London, and there it was...the London Eye big wheel, the pineapple, the Tower itself, and of course, the bridge mistaken for London Bridge.

Last night, a documentary on Caligula showed a roman bath, and there it was, the Roman Bath's in Bath, England.

News reports of William and Kate show a view of Hyde Park, right were we walked last spring! And a report on the late Princess Lady Di and her charities, shows the park that bears a fountain in her name.

The examples keep going on and on.

But the good news is the Trip Advisor. There's a long list of sites in London that they want me to review.  Too little time, too many reviews.

But it's fun to dream. And remember.
