You may have noticed that I've been missing from the news a couple of days over the last week or so.
Whenever this happens, people always feel duty bound to approach me on the street and confide in me "We're glad you're back..."
I'm never quite sure how to take this... if they missed me...or someone who filled in dropped the ball... or if they're just making conversation.
But even better is when they ask, "Say, how'd that trip to _____ work out?"... when I haven't yet left on it. In the current instance, we're leaving for London just after the first of May, but people think the trip may already have happened.
As the excitement of the London Summer Olympic Games builds, the interest in going to London or visiting the swinging city is rising...and it's no accident that our trip is planned for just prior to those games this year.
A similar visit was planned for Vancouver and Whistler just as they were getting ready for the Winter Olympics a few years ago. And we REALLY enjoyed our extra half day in the Olympic village area to explore.
If you'd like to know more about the London Games, there's a new link established for information on the games and NBC's coverage of the events. Find it here, and on our "hot button"... www.nbcolympics.com/wtap/
But the next most common question that I get is, "Where are you going next?" While I'm never quite sure, I usually have some ideas. And most recently, we've been getting strong interest from our regular traveler to schedule a return visit to Alaska and the inland waterway cruise line between Vancouver and Skagway.
Now, nothing is certain, and some other opportunities may present themselves along the way, but I suspect Alaska MAY be our next trip next year... but this time, we might fly into Anchorage, and then visit Denali, Fairbanks, White Horse, the Yukon, and finish the trip with a 3 or 4 day cruise ship returning to Vancouver. But don't hold me to that. It's just that variety in the trip that might make it attractive to us to visit again.
If you're interested in making that circuit with us next summer, "Start saving your nickles" as I usually tell folks, and watch for the announcement much later this year.
Wherever we go, we'd love to have you come along and enjoy these trips with us. It's always so nice to meet our viewers and get to know them face to face.
