What if someone you knew passed away, but you didn’t know about it?
What if the website you had gotten used to using, to provide you with all the details you need about the person, the services, the visitation, etcetera, was suddenly no longer available to you?
That has recently happened to the website for the newspapers in the Parkersburg-Marietta area.
You can no longer go to their websites and read everything for free, like you used to be able to do.
So what do you do?
You may or may not know it, but people have to PAY to have their loved ones’ obituaries run in the local newspaper.
For nearly 10 years, our website – TheNewsCenter.tv – has run complete obituaries…at no cost to anyone.
The only problem, has been: funeral homes don’t send all of their notices to us.
In light of the change at the local newspaper, we have reached out this week, to every funeral home we can locate in the Mid-Ohio Valley, asking them to re-double their efforts in sending ALL of their obituaries to us.
Right now, there is no single place on the internet, where you can go for free and find ALL of the local obituaries for our area.
This is especially problematic for folks who used to live here, who use the internet to stay up on what’s happening here in the Valley.
TheNewsCenter.tv will run obituaries, no matter how long…and with a photo…all at no charge.
And we keep them archived indefinitely.
I’d like to ask a favor.
I’d like to ask you to call or e-mail one or more of the area funeral homes and encourage them to take advantage of this opportunity. If they have any questions, they can call me for details.
Then you and everyone else can once again have a place you can go – on-line – to find all of the local obituaries at no cost to you or the families.
And all of the local news, weather and sports at no charge, as well.
