Phyllis Smith joined WTAP in July 2015 as the station's digital editor. She changed roles and became a nightside reporter in September 2016.

Phyllis Smith joined WTAP in July 2015 as the station's digital editor. She changed roles and became a nightside reporter in September 2016.

Phyllis has enjoyed reading and sharing stories with others since she was young.

In 2013, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from West Virginia Wesleyan College with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies and a minor in English. As a member of West Virginia Wesleyan’s Honors Program, she studied abroad in both London and Florence.

While at Wesleyan, she worked at WDTV in Clarksburg and continued there until 2015 as a multimedia journalist/digital reporter.

In her downtime, she likes to make her friends and family laugh. She’s got a knack for impersonations!

Born and raised in Parkersburg, Phyllis is delighted to return home.
