Ashley Sturm joined the news team in September 2013 producing Daybreak and then became the 6 and 11 o'clock anchor.
As a Parkersburg native, Ashley grew up watching WTAP. She made her television debut in the 8th grade reading the morning announcements at Edison Junior High. Upon graduating from Parkersburg South High School in 2009, Ashley was awarded WTAP's Glenn Wilson Scholarship.
In 2013 Ashley graduated Magna Cum Laude from WVU's P. I. Reed School of Journalism with a Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism and minors in both political science and history. While at WVU she was the main anchor for the award winning newscast, WVU News, as well as the political reporter.
Ashley is a political junkie and history buff. When she isn’t on the news, she’s likely watching it. She also enjoys hanging out with her family, friends and dog, Chloe.
Ashley is thrilled to be back at her hometown news station, working alongside the people she grew up watching.
She left WTAP in June 2016 to become a morning anchor at WWAY in Wilmington, North Carolina.
