Katie Wilson

Katie Wilson joined the WTAP News Team in September 2015 as a nightside multimedia journalist.

She became the WTAP News at 6 & 11 anchor in August 2016.

Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Katie graduated with honors from Emory University with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Sociology.

During her college career, Katie high jumped for the Emory University Track and Field team all four years. Her biggest accomplishment was winning her indoor conference championship with a height of five feet four inches.

Her love of sports led her to intern with Fox 5 Sports in Atlanta her junior year. She was able to interview some of the nation’s top athletes and coaches, as well as publish stories for a top 20 station. Katie also interned at Georgia Public Broadcasting the following year.

When she wasn’t at practice or studying, Katie loved to stay involved in her campus community. She anchored and produced the Emory Sports Update each week, where she interviewed Emory sports fans about the latest in Emory athletics. She also wrote for her college newspaper and was an active member in Tridelta.

Katie knew she wanted to be a reporter since seventh grade. After presenting a multimedia project to her class, her teacher playfully suggested she become a reporter, and the idea stuck.

In her free time, Katie loves to travel, workout, read, and relax with her family and friends. When she's not with others, she's at home snuggling with her two-year-old rescue cat, Duncan.

Katie is ecstatic to call Parkersburg, West Virginia, her new home, and can’t wait to provide you with your local news each night.

After leaving WTAP in September 2017, Katie Wilson is now a weekend anchor and weekday reporter at WKBN in Youngstown, Ohio.
