She's described as dedicated, hardworking and always willing to go the extra mile.
First grade teacher, Lori Mendenhall, was named the Jan Dils Golden Apple award winner Tuesday morning at Belmont Elementary School.
She's been a teacher for 15 years and said it's her love of kids and working as a team that inspired her to become a teacher.
Lori said it takes heart and kindness to succeed as a teacher and she offered some advice for new teachers.
"It's a journey that you go on and the kids placed in your class are meant to be in there. So just know that you're going to enjoy every day. You need to be dedicated and have goals and be the example the kids need to see," said Mendenhall.
Lori said she's honored and blessed to receive the award.
