UPDATE: Authorities release name of person killed in single-vehicle crash on I-77 in Mineral Wells

MINERAL WELLS, W.Va. (WTAP) - UPDATE: 11/03/17 7:30 P.M.

Authorities have released the name of the person killed in a single-vehicle accident on I-77 Friday afternoon.

Wood County Sheriff deputies say Robert R. Andolsen, 77, of Palm Bay, Florida was the victim. He was pronounced dead at Camden Clark Medical Center.

They say he was the passenger of a 2008 Toyota Highlander operated by Jean D. Andolsen, 72. They were traveling southbound on the interstate when it struck a guardrail, ran off the road and hit an embankment about one mile south of the Mineral Wells rest area.

Jean Andolsen was taken to Camden Clark Medical Center, where she is being treated for her injuries.

One person is dead and another person is hospitalized after a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 77 Friday afternoon.

Authorities say the crash happened about 1 p.m. about a mile south of the Mineral Wells rest area.

Wood County Sheriff Steve Stephens confirmed one person died in the accident. He says the southbound vehicle with Florida license plates struck a guardrail, ran off the road and hit an embankment.

The injured person was taken by ambulance to Camden Clark Medical Center.

Authorities have not released the names of the car's occupants or other details related to the crash.

The Mineral Wells Volunteer Fire Department and St. Joseph's Ambulance Service responded to the crash.

The Wood County Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation.
