MARIETTA, OHIO (WTAP)- Not many people live to be 100 years old, but two residents of a local nursing home can say they did.
Today two Marietta women celebrated their 100th birthdays at Harmar Place in Marietta.
Ruby Mckee is originally from Macksburg Ohio and was born on October 6th 1917.
She was married to her husband David for 55 years.
Through those years she stayed at home and took care of her kids, sewed, and made crafts.
Lucille Hupp is from Lowell Ohio and was born on October 17th 1917.
She played basketball back in high school, enjoys eating potato chips, and drinking Pepsi.
Ruby has 2 daughters, 4 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
Lucille has two sons, 4 grand children, and 1 great grandchild.
Resident, Ruby McKee, states “I guess I'm glad to have so many people come out to my party. Lots of them I do remember and lots of them I don't. But who'd ever thought I'd have this many people here."
Amanda Peck, Director of Social Work, asks Lucille "Are you excited to be 100?” Lucille shakes her head no. “Is it just another day?” Lucille shakes her head yes.
Lucille's son, Roger who she hasn't seen in years, also made a special visit to the nursing home for the special occasion.
Though Ruby and Lucille were not able to thank everyone who came, their joyful smiles and tear filled eyes said it all.
