WILLIAMSTOWN, W.Va. (WTAP) - Eight vehicles were involved in a series of accidents late Friday afternoon on Interstate 77 between Williamstown and the Emerson Avenue exit.
The Wood County Sheriff's Office says this accident got started when a truck collided with a small car. More cars then got involved, including three semis.
Immediately afterward, two semis collided in the same area, after which a pickup truck rear-ended another semi, and a sedan collided with a recreational vehicle.
In all of this, the sheriff's department tells us no one was injured.
Traffic on 77 southbound was backed up for several miles while the accident scene was cleared.
Deputies say the weather played a factor, since there was a downpour when it happened.
A 3-vehicle crash on Interstate 77 at mile marker 182, near WIlliamstown, has slowed traffic on the Interstate.
We have a reporter on the way to the scene, and we'll have more details as they become available, on WTAP News on-air and here at TheNewsCenter.tv.
