Daytime burglary suspect gets away

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Wood County Sheriff’s office received an in progress burglary call around 7:30 Friday morning.

Deputies say two men allegedly broke into a home located on Little Kanawha River Road in Parkersburg.

When Deputy Zach Walker arrived on scene he found 20, Samuel Adam Modesitt, of Parkersburg and he attempted to run.

Deputy Walker was able to catch and arrest Modesitt. However, the second suspect who was allegedly with Modesitt got away.

Sheriff Steve Stephens says, “The two suspects in this case, had come to the victim and asked to swim behind his property, and use the boat dock to access the river and swim. He told them he didn't have a problem with them using it. He left a came back for a short period time and that's when he found the individuals inside his house."

Police say the suspects could be linked to other burglaries in the area.

Wood County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have information about the suspect who got away to contact authorities.
