Pleasants, Grant, and Marion County see new business growth in August.

ST. MARYS, W.Va. (WTAP) - West Virginia Secretary of State's Office recognizes three counties as having the highest percentage of growth in business registrations for the month of August.

Secretary of State’s Business and Licensing Division reported Pleasants County with a 1.94 percent business growth.

This puts them ahead of Grant County, 1.83 percent and Marion County, 1.8 percent.

According to the West Virginia’s Business Statistics Database, 750 new businesses were started in the mountain state during the month of August.

Jody Murphy from Pleasants County Chamber of Commerce says this is a really big deal for being such as small county.
Murphy says, “A lot of it really goes back to the people that own the businesses here. They want to see things that will go in. They're very willing to work towards getting something new in.”
