UPDATE: Crash involving SUV, school bus sends several to hospitals

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ohio - (WTAP) UPDATE: 01/112018 11:45 A.M.

As authorities continue to investigate Thursday's morning's crash involving a Warren Local Schools bus and an SUV, the district's superintendent says only the bus driver, one student and the SUV driver were taken to the hospital.

Superintendent Kyle Newton says the bus driver and the student suffered "mostly bumps and bruises" in the crash. They were treated at the Belpre campus of Marietta Health System, he says.

The Marietta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says the crash happened about 6:15 a.m. on Route 7 near milepost 14 just south of the Veto Road intersection.

Trooper says the SUV rear-ended the bus, which was stopped at a private drive in the southbound lane to pick up students.

The SUV driver, Chadwick Fouse, 30, of Davisville, was taken by helicopter to Grant Riverside Medical Center in Columbus. A hospital spokesman confirmed late Thursday morning he was bring treated in the emergency room.

Earlier reports from the Ohio State Highway Patrol indicated as many as three students were taken to the hospital.

Five people were taken to hospitals after an SUV rear-ended a Warren Local School District bus on Route 7 north of Belpre Thursday morning.

The SUV driver, the bus driver and three students all required medical treatment after the crash, according to a spokesman for the Marietta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The Highway Patrol says none of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening, but the SUV driver, Chadwick Fouse, 30, of Davisville, was taken by helicopter to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

A hospital spokeswoman says he was still being treated in the emergency room late Thursday morning.

The school-bus driver and students, who haven't been identified, were taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital. Their conditions have not been made available.

The crash happened about 6;15 a.m. on Route 7 near milepost 14 when Fouse's GMC Yukon rear-ended the bus, which was stopped at a private drive in the southbound lane to pick up students.

The Patrol spokesman says the total number of students on the bus hasn't been determined.

The Highway Patrol says the crash remains under investigation but charges are likely.

According to the Washington County Dispatch, an SUV rear ended a Warren local school bus on Route 7 near Veto Road.

The call came in at 6:19 Thursday morning.
We do know there are reported injuries.

Ohio Highway Patrol is handling the crash.
