PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Hundreds visited homes across the Mid-Ohio Valley this weekend that were decked out for the holiday season.
It was the 50th annual Holly Trail Tour Homes, sponsored by the General Federation of West Virginia Parkersburg Women's Club. For the "golden tour" the event was extended into a two day affair. Home owners say both days were a huge success.
People could tour eight different homes in Parkersburg and Vienna. One home on 22nd Street in Parkersburg has been around since 1919 and the McClung family is the third owner since it was built.
Keith and Michelle McClung have been decorating their home and others on the tour since October. They have nearly ten Christmas trees on display among many paintings and artifacts from Parkersburg’s history.
“Old homes are wonderful there is so much that we love about an old home and so much that we don't like about an old home.” Keith says. “But we just love the character that an old home brings, we love the stories that it hides within its walls and we've traced the history of the house back to when it was build and it’s just really neat to preserve the heritage and the history of the home and share it with others” he adds.
Participants paid $15 to tour the homes Saturday and Sunday. You could view them all in one day, or split your ticket between both days.
