UPDATE: Wood County grand jury expected to hear animal abuse case

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP)- Update: 3/14/2018 4:45 P.M.

Christian Cottrell, 26. had his case waived to the Wood County Grand Jury Wednesday. Cottrell is charged with Animal Cruelty after deputies say a witness saw him throw his 2-month-old dog from a 2nd floor window of Comfort Inn in Parkersburg.

A man accused of throwing his 2-month-old puppy out of a hotel window in Parkersburg is now out of jail on bond.

According to the Wood County Sheriff's Office, 26-year-old Christian Cottrell was released from the Wood County Jail at 4:30 P.M. Monday, on $10,000 bond.

Cottrell is charged with one count of Animal Cruelty, after a witness told deputies they saw Cottrell drop what appeared to be a baby from the 2nd story window of a room at the Comfort Inn on Murdoch Avenue in Parkersburg.

Investigators discovered Cottrell had actually dropped his 2-month-old dog from the window, because it "did nothing but cry all the time.”

The dog is being treated by a local veterinarian for shock and injuries, but its condition has not been released.

Wood County Sheriff's deputies arrested and charged a man for reportedly throwing his puppy from a 2-story window at a local hotel.

A witness told deputies they thought they saw a baby being dropped out of a window at Parkersburg’s Comfort Inn around 1 P.M. Monday.

Turns out, it was actually a 2-month-old puppy that reportedly belonged to 26 year old, Christian Cottrell.

He told Wood County Sheriffs the dog "did nothing but cry all the time.”

He's arrested for animal cruelty.

A bond was set at $10,000 dollars.

Veterinarians say the dog is being treated for shock.

They say it will be 24 hours before they can determine if the dog will survive.
