PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - UPDATE: 07/09/2018, 7:30 P.M.

A car wreck involving a dump truck Monday afternoon temporarily closed 4th Street in downtown Parkersburg, causing traffic delays.

The bed of a dump truck struck power lines on 4th Street just before the 4 o'clock rush and caused the road to shut down between Juliana and market on Monday.

The driver was inside the truck for almost two hours until the power company arrived and determined it was safe for him to exit the vehicle.

The truck driver works for Bosley Construction and was dumping red clay where the Citizens Bank Building was demolished a few weeks ago.

Police reports say this incident has nothing to do with Empire Builders.

UPDATE: 07/09/18 4:25 P.M.

A section of 4th Street in Downtown Parkersburg remains closed because of a single-vehicle accident involving a dump truck that knocked down a utility pole and some power lines.

A Wood County 911 Center dispatch supervisor says the driver is still in the vehicle and the utility company has been notified.

The crash happened about 3:45 p.m. Monday afternoon.

The Parkersburg police and fire departments are at the scene of the accident.
