PARKERSBURG, WV (WTAP)-- Superintendent John Flint addressed "the elephant in the room" for the Wood County Board of Education.
Flint identified four priorities for immediate improvement at Tuesday evening's Board of Education meeting.
He described the current status as "Unacceptable!"
In no particular order, his priorities include:
--FINISHING THE INSTALLATION OF 3000 ERICKSON ALL SPORT FACILITY BLEACHERS
-- REPLACING THE ERICKSON TENNIS COURTS
--FINISHING THE INSTALLATION OF 3000 BLEACHERS AT STADIUM FIELD
--REPLACING THE STADIUM FIELD GRIDIRON AND TRACK.
Flint says the staff will bring the board a financial package that will be strong and complete, as he considers these "Must Do" improvements.
"That is unacceptable, it's totally unacceptable," declared Supt. John Flint. "That's who we are, guys...our worst link. Not our best, not the shining star. Who we are is what we accept!"
Councilman Jim Asbury and President Lawrence Hasbargen question if three thousand additional seats are actually needed nor could be filled in light of today's attendance numbers.
Ashbury supports the track, field and tennis court replacements first, and only if maintained.
Several board members stressed the need for continual maintenance to preserve their facilities.
