UPDATE: Athens man sentenced after conviction on 110 counts for recording child pornography

On June 20, 2018 in Athens County Court, Benjamin Joseph Schneider, 46, of Athens, Ohio, was found guilty of 110 felony counts, mostly involving child pornography.

An Athens man was sentenced on Thursday after he was found guilty of 110 felony counts for recording and distributing child pornography from his home.

On Thursday in Athens County Court, Judge Patrick J. Lang sentenced Benjamin Schneider, 46, of Athens, to eight years in prison and five years of post-release control.

Schneider was also classified as a Tier II Sex Offender, requiring registration/verification every 6 months, for a period of 25 years after his initial registration.

Athens County prosecutors say Schneider installed cameras in his home to record nude images of children which he stored on his computer and other electronic devices.

Schneider was convicted on June 20, 2018, of the following charges:

6 Counts of Pandering Sexually-Oriented Matter Involving a Minor, felonies of the second degree.
38 Counts of Illegal Use of Minor in Nudity-Oriented Material or Performance, felonies of the second degree.
44 Counts of Illegal Use of Minor in Nudity-Oriented Material or Performance, felonies of the fifth degree.
12 Counts of Voyeurism, felonies of the fifth degree.
10 Counts of Possessing Criminal Tools, felonies of the fifth degree.

This case was investigated by the Athens County Sheriff’s Office.

An Athens man is convicted on 110 felony counts after he allegedly installed cameras in his home to record nude images of children which he stored on his computer and other electronic devices.

On Wednesday, after a 2-day bench trial in Athens County Court, Judge Patrick J. Lang found Benjamin Schneider, 46, of Athens, Ohio, guilty of the following charges:

6 Counts of Pandering Sexually-Oriented Matter Involving a Minor, felonies of the second degree.
38 Counts of Illegal Use of Minor in Nudity-Oriented Material or Performance, felonies of the second degree.
44 Counts of Illegal Use of Minor in Nudity-Oriented Material or Performance, felonies of the fifth degree.
12 Counts of Voyeurism, felonies of the fifth degree.
10 Counts of Possessing Criminal Tools, felonies of the fifth degree.

Judge Lang found Schneider not guilty of 1 count of Possessing Criminal Tools, a felony of the fifth degree.

Judge Lang set bond at $500,000.00 with no 10% pending sentencing on July 12, 2018, at 1:00 P.M.

Athens County prosecutors say Schneider installed cameras in his home to record nude images of children which he stored on his computer and other electronic devices.
