PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP)- The mid ohio valley health department says you should get your kids up-to-date vaccines... especially before school starts. This includes vaccines like polio, measles, hepatitis, and several others.
The West Virginia Schools have laws that will not allow a student back to school without having documentation of up to date vaccines.
Tonia Lang, Clinical Director at the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department stresses the importance of vaccines and how they are beneficial. “These childhood diseases still exist, even if people think they don’t, and they can be devastating. And it’s important that children are immunized because some children cannot receive the vaccines for various health reasons. And then, the ones who can help protect the ones who can’t.”
Grades that require vaccines include kindergarten through 7th grade, seniors and college students.
