Belpre BOE Appoints New Member

BELPRE, WV (WTAP)-- The Belpre schools Board of Education appointed a new member Monday evening.

Board BOE President Brenda Church says when no one ran for the vacancy when Bob Wallace retired, the board was able to select a candidate of their choice.

She says several people applied and after interviews, former teacher Mike Miller was named Monday.

"Well, I taught here at Belpre for 33 years... I taught for 35 years total," explains Mike Miller. " I've lived in Belpre most of my life since third grade, so I know the school district really well and the people. There's a lot of really great people here in Belpre, so, I'm looking forward to doing this. It's going to be hopefully a lot of fun and very challenging."

In addition to Miller's long history with the district, his family has ties as well.

His father attended Monday's organizational meeting, where Miller was sworn in.

He took his seat on the board in the first official business meeting of the new year Monday evening.
