PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Camden Clark Medical Center received a recognition that could entice expecting families.
Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield West Virginia recognized the hospital's maternity care unit as a Blue Distinction Center for Maternity Care.
Jim Fawcett, the president of Highmark West Virginia, says Camden Clark exceeded the national standards in terms of safety, quality, and patient satisfaction.
Marianne Dietrick-Gallagher, the interim director of women's and children's services at Camden Clark, appreciates the recognition.
"I am incredibly proud of our staff, our nurses, our techs, our clerks, and our physicians to have been recognized for the all wonderful work we do here it is a real honor for us and I am delighted to be able to be here to accept it," she said.
According to a press release from WVU Medicine, Blue Distinction Centers are nationally designated hospitals that show expertise in delivering improved patient safety and better health outcomes, based on objective measures that were developed with input from the medical community. The press release also states Camden Clark is the only hospital in the Mid-Ohio Valley recognized by Highmark for meeting the Blue Distinction quality selection criteria.
The hospital has also received blue distinctions for its knee, hip, and cardiac care.
