MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - Tonight, family gather to remember a loved one who went missing over 20 years ago.
A candlelight vigil was held for Patsy Sparks at the the East Lawn Memorial Park.
Sparks was 18 when she was last seen, at a bar in Parkersburg, back on April 22, 1992.
She was going to see her grandmother later that night.
Nearly 3 years later though her body was found in a wooded area in Ohio.
An autopsy report revealed Sparks death had been due to a homicide.
Family members remember her for her warm and fun loving character.
Jessica Whipkey, Sparks's cousin, told WTAP, "I think she would have done things to help people and do a lot of good and that's what I want to remember her...
Just to think that somebody did that and that they are getting away with it is a...cold thought...and when I think of her I don't want to have that cold thought.
You know it's warm and it's happy things so..."
The Washington County's Sheriff's Office Cold Case Squad re-opened Spark's case, and is expected to start their investigation early next year.
