CHARLESTON, W.Va.-(WTAP) A spokesman for the West Virginia House of Delegates says veteran Wood County lawmaker J. Frank Deem is hospitalized after suffering a broken hip Tuesday.
Spokesman Jared Hunt says Deem was injured during a fall and taken to Charleston Area Medical Center, where he was to undergo surgery Wednesday.
Hunt says Deem was reported to be in good spirits after the accident.
Deem has been a fixture at the state capital for decades, serving in both the House and Senate at different times.
He was most recently elected to the House in 2014 and reelected in 2016.
