MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio (WTAP) - On Saturday, Meigs County Sheriff deputies responded to the residence of a man suspected of assaulting and kidnapping his girlfriend. It ended with the man in the hospital and authorities finding a marijuana growing operation in the home.
Deputies were called to a residence on Bradbury Road, where the suspect was located.
When they arrived, they say Eric Morris, 45, became belligerent, barricaded himself inside the basement, and fired a single shot. He also reportedly made statements that he would shoot the deputies.
He was taken into custody after he sustained a self-inflicted stab wound to the neck.
He is listed in stable condition.
Deputies found an indoor marijuana growing operation and firearms in the home.
There's no word on his charges yet.
